Meetings

LeRF holds meetings every 2 months or so. Below are details of upcoming and previous events.

22 September 2009

REANNZ and Plant & Food Research jointly hosted an eResearch event for Lincoln based KAREN members. You can see a rundown on the event and results of the participant survey at eResearch@Lincoln.

July 2009

Duane Harland and AgResearch hosted the July LeRF meeting. The topic was Jumping Spiders and Navigating Ants, this is an area that AgResearch are working on using Genetic algorithms to evolve neural networks to mimic behaviours seen in the natural world. The evolution of the algorithms requires a large amount of compute cycles as thousands of iterations are required.

April 2009

The next LeRF met on 1 April and featured a presentation on VC options and opportunities by Nathan Gardiner, Manager of the Advanced Video Collaboration Centre at the University of Canterbury. The meeting was hosted by Tracy Williams at Plant and Food Research.

February 2009

The first meeting of the Forum was hosted by Stuart Charters, Lecturer in Applied Computing at Lincoln University, mid February. Representatives from Lincoln University, Plant & Food Research, AgResearch and Lincoln Ventures Ltd provided updates on KAREN-related activities.
