School Video Conferencing

As part of the National Education Network trial some participating schools are developing their video conferencing infrastructure and skills. REANNZ is facilitating some these conferences and collaborations with other institutions such as the National Library and Crown Research Institutes. We will post highlights, participants and some lessons learned from these conferences. Summary

  • The National Library team is learning how to conduct a quality video conference
    • Camera pre-sets (20 minutes required to set up five)
    • Power point and internet content did not work on the bridge but was fine with a point to point connection. We have set up a test for December 1 to fix the problem with Agile.
    • Documents in zoom are presented best in full screen
    • Diana Grace from Te Papa learned about the presets, document presentation and the bridge presentation layout.
    • Donald Clark observed the user experience and suggested systematic bridge and endpoint testing to solve the presentation problem quickly
    • Problem, cannot see presentation material on the bridge
    • Must have presentations on screen to share/discuss digital resources for next week

National Education Network Celebration

REANNZ hosted a video conference on KAREN with a diverse group of schools from across New Zealand highlighting individual experiences with the network. The meeting was a very positive experience for all involved.
