Agenda

It's intended that the session provides an opportunity for sharing of information about key eResearch programmes across NZ and Australia, to meet colleagues working in similar domains, and to progress relationships and identify potential collaborations.

The session starts with updates on programmes that already have a history of collaboration, and then moves into an open forum for further discussion.

      • Spread across disciplines and institutions. Low risk.
      • 50 in this intake
      • Would preserve this above most other things
      • 1 week induction
      • Come together every 2 weeks, final presentations, podcasts, a paper, varied communications methods.
      • Cross fertilization between students and different research groups and institutions.

Questions:

  • MG: How do you integrate multiple levels of national, state, and institution based eResearch providers across all regions?
    • TW: ARCS started as a very broadly scoped service model, but has pulled right back to focus on only nationally provided services that can't be provided regionally and institutionally. Members of ARCS are in fact the institutions, and they define scope and constraints.
    • MB: Agree that there isn't competition although coordination happens pragmatically. There are good communications between groups as needs are identified.
